SETexDOC New Year's Day Ride - Saturday 1/1/11 (Houston area)

It has been said that what you do on New Year's Day you'll be doing all year long.  So let's get the year started right, and get out on our bikes!  This is our annual New Year's Day celebration:  Lunch at the Black-eyed Pea--where you'll get some complimentary black-eyed peas for good luck--followed by a brief ride northwest of Houston.  What better way to kick off your new year than riding with your friends?  Don't miss this one!

   - Lunch 11:00 AM
          Gather at The Black-eyed Pea
          10999 Northwest Freeway  <--New start location this year!
             (US 290 at W 43rd W 34th Street)*

   - Kickstands up 12:15 PM
          Ride:  New Year's Day
          Return to Houston:  2:00 - 2:30 PM

All riders & all bikes welcome!

Weather Forecast (Updated Thursday 12/30):
   Ride temperatures ranging from 58 to 64 degrees
   No rain expected


*  Google Maps had an error in showing this location.  The Black Eyed Pea is on the inbound access road, just south of 34th Street.  The address is correct.

As a Scotsman it would be rude of me if I didnt pay homage to our national saint;  Johnny Walker on what we call Hogmonay.  I suspect i will be in no fit state to ride a bike.

Carr Great way to kick off 2011!

Phillip (guy on the 748) & I got separated from the group at the last stop sign and couldn't catch back up. We stopped and got gas once we hit 290 and headed back to Houston.

Was a great ride and excellent route, thanks again!!!
