1  Outings / Track Days & Races / CMRA motorcycle races in Angleton, Sat 2/16 - Sun 2/17 2013 on: February 10, 2013, 08:08:59 PM
The Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) is opening their 2013 club racing season this weekend at MSR-Houston, the track just outside Angleton.  CMRA will be racing all weekend.  Saturday's races are mostly minibike sprints in the morning, followed by a 6-hour big-bike endurance race from 10:30 on.  Sunday's races are all sprints and a variety of classes from 125cc two-stroke GPs to superbikes.

As a bonus, CMRA has a spectator lap during the lunch break on Sunday, at which time you can ride your bike on the track for a low-speed group lap...an interesting thing to do if you've never been on a track before.

I would organize a ride out to the sprint races Sunday, but I will already be there.  I am working at the races this weekend.  I'm posting this in case any of you would like to hook up and ride down there.

Admission is just $5 either day if you come on your bike.  Otherwise $15 for Saturday and Sunday, or $10 for Sunday only.  Bring a radio with you and tune it to FM 88.1 to hear the race announcer's calls.  Whatever you do this weekend, I hope it will include getting out on your bikes.  Looks like some great riding weather!

Ride well,
Carr

I'm thinking about it.  What time are you planning to head out?
3  All Things Ducati / General Discussion / Re: New owner/rider, is this club still active? on: January 08, 2013, 01:18:39 AM
Congratulations on the taking up riding and picking up your Monster!  Nice first bike.

The group has been dormant for awhile, including the forum.  However you can expect to see some rides and other activities happening over the next couple of months.  Traditionally we do one day ride each month, meeting for breakfast then heading out for a few hours' ride, catching lunch somewhere on the way before heading back.  I usually lead the rides, but life has gotten in the way recently.  Hoping to get back on track with a January ride.

Rides and activities are posted here on the forum, so be sure to check in periodically.

Ride well,

Carr

Sorry to inform everyone, the ride has been cancelled due to rain.  Although it is possible the rain will move out of our area before ride time, that appears unlikely at this moment.  In addition roads are expected to still be wet and some low lying back roads on the route could be flooded.

I am considering rescheduling the ride for next Sunday, as suggested by Paul.  In that event there will be a new ride posted on the forum.

Here's wishing everyone a safe and happy New Year.

I have updated the status of the ride to "tentative" due to a possibility of rain New Year's day.  I will be watching the forecasts and updating the status as appropriate.  Let's just hope that the forecast "rain event" is over with by then.  Otherwise this would be the first time ever that we missed having the New Year's Ride.

Please be sure to check the status in the FIRST posting of this thread for updates.

Thanks!
